Metis Collective Rights
Collective Rights are the rights of a minority group that have previous agreements that have certain rights from those agreements that cannot be taken way. The concept of collective rights emerged because individual human rights do not guarantee adequate protection for indigenous peoples and other minorities exhibiting collective characteristics. Collective rights recognize the founding peoples of Canada and come from the roots of Aboriginal peoples, Francophones and Anglophones. The Metis quality of life has since improved by being recognizing as an aboriginal people of Canada and giving them aboriginal rights. These aboriginal rights protect the activities, practice or traditions that are integral to the distinctive culture of the aboriginal peoples.
